Do you know yourself?

Does this ever happen to you that you go to a secluded place and you just feel you are not the person you think you are? You see all the unknown faces, hear the unknown dialects, get surrounded by an environment completely new to you. But this doesn't make you feel scared or lost. You just don't want to think anything and just want to go with the flow. You cannot feel how the time is going by. Most of the time, when I am travelling to such places, I go through this. These places just makes me feel I am not the person everyone knows I am. Will it be strange to say, this gives me pleasure? To find myself to be completely different?
Everybody says travelling changes you. What I say is that, travelling just opens up another door inside that you didn't know was there before.

আজগর আলী চৌধুরী জামে মসজিদ আনুমানিক ১৭৯৫ সালে আজগর আলী চৌধুরী নামে একজন স্থানীয় ব্যক্তি এই মসজিদটি তৈরি করেন এবং উনার নামানুসারে এই মসজিদটির নামকরণ করা হয় ‘আজগর আলী চৌধুরী জামে মসজিদ’। নগরীর হালিশহরস্থ চৌধুরীপাড়া বাজারের থেকে অল্প সামনে, ১০ শতক জমির ওপর এবং প্রায় ৩০ জন মানুষ ধারণক্ষমতা সম্পন্ন ২৫০ বছরের পুরনো মসজিদটি বর্তমানে সংস্কার করে, প্রায় সাড়ে চার কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ে এর পশ্চিম দিকে আরেকটি নতুন মসজিদ তৈরি করা হয়, যার চারপাশে লেকের আদলে এবং দূর থেকে পানির ওপর ভাসমান স্থাপনা বলে মনে হয়। মোঘল স্থাপনাকে অনুকরণ করে তৈরি করা এই মসজিদটিতে রয়েছে ২৪ টি মিনার আর তিনটি গম্বুজ। এই মসজিদটির একটি লক্ষণীয় বিশেষত্ব হচ্ছে জানালার অনুপস্থিতি। এছাড়া প্রবেশদ্বারের আকারও খুব ছোট। কালের বিবর্তনে খানিক মাটিতে দেবে যাবার কারণে মসজিদটি একটু এক পাশে বাঁকা! হয়তো আর বেশিদিন নেই এই ঐতিহাসিক স্থাপনা আমাদের মাঝ থেকে হারিয়ে যাবার। সময়ের পরিক্রমায় আর্কিটেকচারাল জৌলুস অনেকটাই কমে গেলেও এর সামনে যখন আপনি দাঁড়াবেন, সেই সময়ের কথা ভেবে আপনার মন উদাসী হতে বাধ্য। Azgar Ali Chowdhury Jam-e Masjid The mosque was ...

প্রাচীন স্থাপনার গল্প - সত্য সাহার বাড়ি

  প্রাচীন স্থাপনাগুলোতে রহস্য থাকে । থাকে না বলা অনেক গল্প, বাসিন্দাদের দুঃখ-সুখের নানা স্মৃতি । বাতাসে কেমন যেন একটা মন খারাপ করা, ছোটবেলা মনে করিয়ে দেয়া গন্ধ থাকে । থাকে গা ছমছম করা আলো -আধারির খেলা । মনে হয় এই বুঝি আমার সামনে দিয়ে লাল পাড়ের সাদা শাড়ি পরা কোন মানবী, কপালের ঠিক মাঝখানে এত্ত বড় একটা লাল টিপ পড়ে, পায়ের নূপুরে রিনঝিন শব্দ তুলে, দৌড়ে চলে যাবে । তার সেই দৌড়ে চলে যাবার মধ্যে থাকবে লজ্জা, থাকবে আকুলতা, থাকবে আহ্বান । আমি আকর্ষিত হই, আমি আপ্লূত হই । বারবার । প্রাচীন এরকম স্তাপনাগুলোর যত্ন দরকার, দরকার পরিচিতি । ছবির বাড়িটি পরিচিত সত্য সাহার বাড়ি নামে । সত্য সাহাকে সবাই মূলত চিনবেন, 'তুমি কি দেখেছ কভু' - গানটির সুরকার হিসেবে ।

In the lap of the Mountain

Pahalgam is a hill station in the north Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. And an important part and tourist attraction of this hill station is Betaab valley which is situated at a distance of 15 kilometers from Pahalgam in Anantnag district in India's northernmost state of Jammu and Kashmir. The valley got its name from a bollywood movie. It is like a huge plain land, surrounded by moutains. Weather is very unpredictable. Snow covered mountains can be seen.
